Since 1991, our criminal defense law partner Jon Katz has defended over 2000 criminal cases in the Circuit and District Courts throughout Maryland, and in the United States District Court. Jon has defended in twenty-one of Maryland's twenty-four counties (including Baltimore City), with Garrett County, Caroline County, and Saint Mary's County being the only counties where he has not yet appeared. He has argued in the Maryland Court of Appeals (Maryland's highest court), and its Court of Special Appeals .
Jon lives and works in Maryland, and enjoys the entire state so much that he delights in defending in all Maryland's courthouses. Jon started his criminal defense career with the Maryland Public Defender's Office, obtaining excellent in-court and classroom training, and defending a wide range of cases in the Circuit and District Courts. Through his fourteen years of defending criminal clients in Maryland, Jon has become intimately and extensively familiar with the state, and is deeply committed to justice there.
